I was able to receive emails but could not send emails. This just started a week ago. Spectrum was unable to help me. Dan was given permission and he took control of my computer to check it out. Dan found a hidden box that somehow had become unchecked. Dan made a couple other adjustments, and everything works great again. I have used Dan for many years, and he is the best.

Desk top computer hard drive replacement and clean up Dan was recommended to me by a friend. He answered the first time, while he was working, asked questions about my situation, confirmed the length of time I planned to keep the computer, recommended an SSD (Solid State Drive) to speed up the computer, set a time for the next day. Dan arrived on time, was cordial and engaging. He sat at my desk working on my desktop for just over 4 hours and NEVER took a break. He is a hard worker. Probably the best part is Dan told me what he was doing as he did it. He is a good teacher and meets you where you are in computer knowledge. Dan brought everything with him including two different SSDs for me to choose from. My desktop is an old bullet proof Dell Optiplex 980 that just had a sick hard drive. It turned out my computer had a LOT of junk on the hard drive and I did not need as much storage as I first thought. We were lucky because my hard drive had not failed and he was able to extract my data and programs and place them on the new SSD. When Dan left, my computer was up and running smoothly, and much faster. It turns out the hard drive is what slows down a computer, much more so than the processor. Dan's charge was about $100 per hour and the SSD hardware was $60. I was very pleased with Dan's work at a stressful time. He is my new IT guy!

Dan was called on to replace the keyboard in my Dell Laptop. The job was remarkably difficult, as Dell as this model of Dell requires every component of the laptop to be removed in order to get to the old keyboard. Though the job was tedious and challenging, Dan stayed positive, was able to replace the keyboard and reinstall every component such that the machine is back to brand new. He had me test out all peripherals for proper function before he left, and all is working perfectly. He has done other work for me, and all jobs have been done professionally and perfectly. I will never call anyone else to fix my computers.

I like Dan a lot. I've used him several times. I will use him again. After he did some work on my computer, I couldn't get into my favorite games. I blamed him. I called him and he tried to walk me through some things and said it was a windows issue and not something he did. I haven't been able to use the computer the same way but I don't know what happened. He did charge a bit more because he stayed a little longer. He took care of everything I wanted him to and he set my computer up with a nifty automatic back up which I like a lot.

Over the last few years, we have called Dan the Computer Man for all manner of computer problems on desktop computer and and ancillary equipment, to include modem, routers printer, iPad, and others. He has even been responsive to problems we have had with complex television and sound equipment problems, e.g. Sound Bar interface with Blue Tooth and TV. Our latest problem was the interface between our computer and iPod and iTunes. Sounds simple, but far from it. First, Dan made an appointment that was convenient for both of us. He was prompt and on time as agreed upon. The problem was that the iTunes program was not responding. Cause was the The newest update would not download because there had been a lapse in updating, on my part. Program required more than a uninstall reinstall fix. Dan, always knows how to fix what ever me or my wife messes up. While Dan was here we asked him to take a look at anything else that might need 'fixing.' His patience is really appreciated inasmuch as our extending his visit in order to do general cleanup resulted in his being on site for some time more than he probably anticipated, due to these late requests. Greatest computer guy we have ever used for any issue that arises. He will provide guidance for a simple fix or come when needed.

I called him at 8:45am and he was at my house before 1:00pm that afternoon. Three hours later, all of my programs were re-installed and my PC was as good as new, maybe better. After Microsoft's Windows 10 automatic updates made my PC progressively worse - prone to crashes, backup operations stopped working, finally my PC wouldn't start, even with hard reboot - I knew I needed help. I needed a complete Windows 10 re-installation but needed to keep all of the information on my SSD and my hard drive.

Check my computer for viruses and find out why it was running so slowly. Excellent! Dan is a great guy and easy to work with. First of all, he came to my house exactly on time. Also, he diagnosed the problem easily--I was afraid my computer had been infected with viruses, but it was running slowly because it's a few years old and the processor doesn't have enough power. He also showed me how to check the computer efficiency and see which programs were eating up the power. When I had questions later, he did remote service several times and explained what my options were. I've had to get my computer repaired before and always had to take it in and wait several days, getting little explanation. I recommend him highly. He also has a website which uses very little power itself and is full of information.

Due to ransomware my computer had been reset to out of the box with Windows 8. I wanted to get back to Windows 10 but could not complete the update to Windows 8.1 Dan was fantastic! He knew exactly what to do, got me back to Windows 10, explained everything, set up a backup schedule for me, and gave me numerous tips. Set up wireless printer. Dan was on time and went right to work. I wanted him to get my wireless printer hooked up to three machines. he cleaned up my oldish laptop and got it connected to the printer. Then made sure my Surface and iPad were also connected. I can normally get these things done, but there was a glitch I would have never discovered! and he did all of this in the allotted time! i would hire him again in a minute!

If you are in the market for an incredibly talented IT guy, Dan Vogler is your computer man. He is patient and skilled. He explains everything in simple terms. My desktop and printer were fried because of an electrical surge, not from the electrical outlet, but from the internet cable. Lesson learned. Dan could not revive my desktop. but I have ordered new equipment and he will be the main person to set it up and bring my files down from Carbonite. Fingers crossed I did that right. I needed an A-rated provider to come to my home and examine my desktop computer that would not boot as a result of a close lightening strike next to my home. Dan called first thing Monday and arrived promptly that afternoon. I was amazed as he literally took the desktop apart piece by piece attempting to get that thing to boot. He definitely had more patience than I would have had. My thoughts would have drifted to a hammer. We mutually declared it dead.

Dan spent one hour speeding up our computer. Our computer had been slowing for several months, but recently it became very slow. I contacted Dan and we agreed on a time and date for a visit to our house. He first ask the age of our computer to verify it was worthy of repair and not replacement. He arrived on time and spent one hour at our home. He reviewed the work he was doing and discussed several issues from our backup drive to our antivirus program. He is very knowledgeable but discusses his work at the customer's level of computer knowledge. Things run great now. What a tuneup! I don't have the computer vocabulary to repeat all he did. I purchased a new computer with Microsoft 8 and I needed Quickbooks and important business files moved to the new computer. My husband and I could not get this computer to print out the very important top and sides of legal documents. Dan got 5 different programs running correctly. He was able to retrieve lost data files, put files in logical order and installed a new external hard drive, he had to do some crawling around under the desk to rearrange electrical cords and plug in the new power supply. Dan made a list of my wife's concerns and went over them to determine exactly what she wanted done. She sat at his side as he went over each issue, explaining what he was doing and asking her how she wanted to arrange files and programs. This was a great help for my wife as she was able to follow along and be familiar where everything was. I used Dan The Computer Man some time in December to find out why my computer was going crazy. Dan was here for one hour and he found that somewhere in the system, things had gotten crossed and it was trying to feed one thing while it was feeding something else and consequently, most of the time, I could not get online with it. Whatever he did straightened all that out internally. I do not know how he did it but anyway, he resolved it and then my computer got back like it was when it was almost new. He did a pretty good job. He is very through at what he does and at how he goes about it. He explains step by step what he is going to do before he does it to make sure that you are okay with it because he could do things. He was very good. If my computer decides to act crazy again, I would consider calling him out. In fact, I have his card on the top of my stack.

Hooked up new computer and transferred data from old computer. I bought a new HP computer and needed all my e-mails and all my favorites transferred from my old computer to my new computer. I also needed a little training because I went from XP to Windows 8. He put a start menu on my Windows 8 so it is easy for me to use. It took about 3 hours to get everything done. Dan is very knowledgeable in his field and did a great job of getting everything transferred over. I knew there might be a glitch or two after I started using the computer and Dan told me if I ran into a problem to call him and if possible, he'd help me over the phone. We did have to make one small change and he did help me over the phone. I would definitely recommend Dan but I will probably not use him in the future, only because of price, nothing else.

He examined the computer and expained that it would most likely burn out in the near future from batteries going bad. He gave me information on buying a new computer tower. Tried to repair desktop. Ended up saving and transferring files to secondary sources. We had a lightning strike in late April that fried quite a few of our electronic devices, including my desktop. We live about 25 miles outside of San Antonio so I wasn't sure Dan would be able to help. When I called him, he did say he normally didn't work outside the immediate San Antonio area, but he would for a travel fee. Being a freelancer myself, I understand how these fees work. You charge per hour and if it's outside your area, you charge for travel. That's how I do it. We settled on a fee and made an appointment. Dan arrived on time (to the minute). He was dressed in a casual but professional manner. He immediately went to work. He took my desktop (Dell Inspiron 580) apart and began testing the different sections. After a while, it became evident that the desktop would not resuscitate, so he began the process of transferring my files/data to a back up drive as well as to one of my laptops. As a language professional and freelancer, I run expensive and licensed software on my computer and keep many documents. Because my software license is only good for two systems, I was concerned that in not being able to retrieve the license from the dead desktop, I would have an issue making a claim to the company I purchased it from. Also, many of my documents were locked and coded due to confidentiality agreements with customers. Dan was able to use his equipment to transfer everything over (keep in mind he basically has to break into the dead computer's harddrive to do this & then wiped it clean). More importantly, none of my confidential documents were compromised. The transfer did not show the license, however submitting his professional business receipt/service order to my software's company, allows me to reclaim my software license for the replacement desktop. This was also very important. He told me not to throw the computer away because it still had many working parts. I ended up donating it to my daughter who is studying computer engineering. The travel expense and time he spent on my system added up to more than I had intended to spend, BUT it was worth every penny. Dan also didn't seem to mind my hovering over him and he politely answered all of my questions (I must have had a million), and he showed me how his equipment functioned. Dan, you're the man!

Transferred the contents of my desktop computer to a new replacement computer. Included photos, videos, e-mail, favorites, contacts, misc. documents, family tree and genealogy files. Reinstalled my printer and scanner after downloading updated drivers from the HP and Canon website. Also set up a backup drive for my Outlook files and instructed me on scheduling and use. I have used Dan the Computer Man several times, from minor repairs, getting advice, and assisting me (in a major way) with building a computer. The price I mentioned above in this review was for some telephone advice. On another occasion, an antivirus software update messed up my computer's ability to access the internet. He fixed that problem, installed a new antivirus program, and cleaned the computer. This took one hour and cost $70. The computer build includied assembly, installing the OS, testing the system, and making some nice tweaks, It took about four hours and cost $300. In the past, I have done this work myself, but I haven't had the time this past year, and he is much, much, more knowledgeable and effecient than I am. I can attest that he is very knowledgeable and very professional. As other reviewers have stated, he will explain to you what he is doing and this may help you in the future should you want to to the work yourself. He will come to your house for repairs, but sometimes he can tell you over the telephone what needs to be done. If you've ever called a tech support person for help with a problem, you probably know how frustrating that can be -- long hold times, and speaking with someone who really doesn't know very much. Save yourself the headache and wasted time, and call Dan the Computer Man for help. He will also tell you when you can do something yourself and save time, and, therefore, save an extra charge to him.

Computer would not allow access to favorite web sites Made an appointment with Dan for 12/07/2012 at approximately 3:35 pm. How ever Dan called and to our delight he was able to come an hour earlier. Upon arrival introductions were exchanged and Dan asked us what problems we were having with this computer. We were not able to acess our favorite websites and a day later we were not able to get on line. Dan visited many sites searching out the problem. Dan told us early on that the problem was not with our computer but our provider. So confident was Dan that he opened his personal phone book and called our providers technical support team and told them so - remaining professional and polite. Tech support had an opening for the next day (Saturday) or the following Tuesday. We chose Tuesday. So after the appointment was made, Dan then encouraged us to share any other computer concerns we had. Dan taught us how to clean out collected debris - making more room, and how to transfer pictures, and several other procedures that escape me right now. Dan was here about two hours or so. Dan is very knowledgeable and enjoys teaching and working on computers. Dan was correct. Our computer problem was from our provider who corrected the problem remotely - per their recorded message the following morning 12/08/2012. Still we kept our appointment for the following Tuesday. The provider technician was here a little more than an hour going over a list left by Dan ------of websites that had been inacessible and checking and tweeking wires and fittings out side of our home. Dan followed up with us via phone on Wednesday 12/12/2012 to confirm that our computer was up and running well and allowing acess to all web sites. Dan remained professional while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. It is obvious that Dan enjoys his craft, while teaching and working with his clients. The visit went well and both my Windows XP and Windows 7 computers seem to be working well with Dan's help. But I am confident if either starts acting up I can depend on Dan's expertise. He seems to go above and beyond to help his customers. Computers seem to be a necessary evil--and periodically older ones seem to act in evil ways. That is when it is time to call Dan. This is my second time using Dan's services. In this case I was having a strange problem with an older Windows XP computer which seemed to ignore the power settings I had set up and would go into a deep sleep. Dan suggested I abandon my XP and transition to my new Windows 7 computer. His advice was sage but I wanted to extend the life of the XP if feasible. Dan helped in this regard even though the computer is almost 10 years old. He helped me develop a workaround to the problem I was having. But just in case it crashed, he transferred the data to my Windows 7 computer. Additionally he troubleshot some minor problems I was having with the new computer, educating me in the process. This is one of Dan's strengths--educating the user. Dan spent about 3 hours in my home completing various tasks. He even answered some dumb questions and responded to some of my concerns a few days after the visit.

Dan helped restore my wireless connection that could not be resolved through Time Warner. There was an issue with the computer itself and had a few issues with the wireless not being active. Dan also performed a complete virus scan and updated some programs to help with the computer itself. Dan was punctual and quickly got to work. He was able to identify the problem very quickly and was able to resolve the wireless issue and other issues, with no problem. Dan, took the time to explain what he was doing, at the same time he was analyzing the issues. I would not hesistate to recommend Dan to anyone.

I would highly recommend - and plan to call him for my needs in the future. He did great work diagnosing a problem with my computer that was stumping me. It was having several issues - turns out I was having failures in my motherboard, power supply, and possibly video card. With that much wrong there was no point in saving the computer so I am buying a new one. However I did not have to wait a week and get the run around on getting it fixed. After one visit and two hours he had it pinpointed and I knew what was wrong. The great thing is that he explained what he was doing the whole time and was very professional. He even gave me some tips on how to self diagnose and create some boot disks for the future.

It was a great experience all the way around. I have a couple of new issues, so writing this review is reminding me that I need to follow up get back on Dan's schedule! My daughter's computer was completely inoperable due to a virus - Dan was able to come almost immediately. We have two other computers that had less serious issues and he worked on all three at the same time, moving from one to the other as programs were loading or diagnostics were running. So, he was extremely efficient and did much more than we expected! He is also very calm, easy going and personable, yet professional.

Repaired Windows Installer using System Restore. Did general cleanup. Provided phone advice for internet access. Dan promptly responded to my message and arrived as scheduled. He progressed from very methodical simple attempts to resolve the issue to more complex solutions. I was delighted that he did not have to reinstall Windows due to the time of day and the time it would have taken. He initially suggested things that I might do and to call him back if the issue was not resolved. I have had experience with other companies who did not suggest anything except a service call. His services are worth every dollar!

Our printer and our fax machine were not working with our computer and he came in and took care of everything. There were some issues with connections. The computer ran very slow and would shut down quite often as well. He did a very good job. He was very knowledgeable. The cost was reasonable and he fixed everything quickly. He was a teacher on the job and simplified our computer system. He was very organized and got everything straightened out. I would definitely use him in the future.

He was working on my daughters laptop as she thought it had a virus. It did not end up having a virus we found out. He did a great job. I was very pleased. I particularly liked Dan's punctuality and professional approach. He does not waste time and educates you as he performs various tasks. I got more than my money's worth during his visit and he was not hesitant to answer my followup questions as the need arose. I will hire him again as the need arises. I was having some problems with an older Windows XP system. Dan was here for about two hours and did a tuneup of my computer. He also set up an external hard drive backup while also changing my settings so the computer was more efficient during start up. We also eliminated a redundant anti malware program. Additionally, he helped me in setting up a new Windows 7 computer to insure it was operating up to par, while also allowing my two desktops to share a printer. This alone was worth the price.

My old computer had a failing main memory. Dan transferred all my files to an external hard drive, then set up my new computer hardware, re-installed old peripherals and re-installed all my files, emails, etc. He arrived on time, diagnosed my system's problems quickly, and worked quickly and professionally to get me working again as smoothly and quickly as possible. He explained what he was doing every step of the way.
