| Dan fixed it so my wireless printer and the old printer would both work. He did a major clean-up of the files to increase the program loading speed. Dan educates as he works and I now feel confident to do the additional fixes before I have a problem. Dan's MY Man!! I told my husband that the first time Dan worked on my compter a couple years ago. When the computer is working, my husband is overjoyed. He can watch his sports packages without any problems. This was Dan's second visit. I needed confirmation that I had created a secure wireless network, there were issues with the battery and general file clean-up.Dan's theory is that it's important for people know how to do the everyday things to keep the compter running smoothly. He also educates as he works so future issues might be able be to resolved with a phone call to Dan. | Things are fine - all is well. Dan charges $70 per hour and he spent 3 hours here. I have a new laptop computer and he transferred files from the old to the new, He made sure that the new was able to print to our older printer. He inquired about keeping security on both the old and new computers, making sure that I knew I would be paying for two subscriptions to Carbonite. | He is a great teacher and had many helpful tips. He didn't mind any amount of questions and is very personable. Every question I had he was able to explain on my computer level. Wireless card not working in older computer which he just happened to have the right part in his car. | Dan replaced my computer hard drive, because the existing one crashed and could not be repaired. Fortunately I had backed up most of my files on an external drive. | Dan got my desktop up and running in no time even with the problem of the missing wire on the used part. After installing the new part, he had my desktop running better than it has in years. I had another problem recently and called him to make an appointment, but he solved my problem over the telephone. I am extremely pleased with his work and will certainly recommend him to others and will use him again. Dan determined I needed a new power source for my desktop computer via telephone and came out to install one. He had a used one that he put in at no cost for the part, but it lacked one wire, so had to order a new one. I could use it in the meantime with the exception of the DVD drive. He came back and installed the new one, worked to speed up my computer, helped me uninstall McAfee and install Norton, and set me up with a better back-up system. He explained everything he did in terms anyone would understand. He was very professional and worked quickly. He also fixed a small email problem on my laptop. | |||

| A family member had not kept up their laptop's anti-virus and they were having web browsing and re-direction issues. We needed someone to de-bug and make it all better. | My computer was very very slow and internet explorer was a joke to use. Dan came and fix my computer under an hour and 1/2 ...he also made my wireless printer ..wireless! I was at work and he called me told me what he had done and what the amount would be I left a check with my oldest son and he paid Dan. 4 months later my computer still works like new!! | Dan was very profesional and left a backup batch file for me. My computer was turning off by itself. Dan had me sit down with him as he explained what he was doing. it seem the problem might be from overheating. Dan cleaned the computer and all seemed ok, but in a few days the computer shut down again. I had only bought an hour of repair time so I did not call Dan back. I did not want to pay for a shop time so i bought a new laptop. | |||

| It went very well. He`s friendly, but professional, and tells you what he is doing and why he is doing it. Dan arrived on time and I briefed him on my computer problems. He took some unnecessary programs off the computer, fixed some updates, stopped it from receiving error messages when it was booted up, set up a back up process for me, and blew the dust out of it. | Remove Virus from our Computer Dan was not only professional but friendly and helpful. He came to the house and managed to remove our virus and was able to restore our files. He taught us a few helpful things about our computer and software. We felt very comfortable with Dan and he liked have us with him as he worked. His fee of $70 hour was very reasonable. He is the smartest and most efficient computer man I have ever met, and that goes beyond all the geeks in any computer store. | I purchased the $49 deal for 1 1/2 hours of computer work. I have a 5 year old dell that had slowed to the point that it was unusable. I called Dan, we found a time when you could come by the house to work on the computer. He came in and began working immediately. He asked me a few questions with regard to specific programs and would show me what and how he was cleaning up the processing work of the computer. He did a fantastic job. | Was not able to connect to the Internet on one computer and not able to get a wireless printer to print on any computer in my home. Called Dan the Computer man earlier in the week and had an appointment made for Friday, Jan. 20. Dan showed up at the agreed upon time, took his time to understand exactly what my problems were. He meticously went about to get one printer to connect to the Internet, then get the wireless printer to print. All problems were corrected without any hitches or delays. Dan worked with the computer that could not connect to the Internet, did some diagnosis tests and got the computer to connect. He did the same meticulous work and diagnosis on my printer and it now prints, scans and faxes for all my computers linked to it. I cannot recommend any other computer repair person than Dan. | Dan Volger of Dan the Computer Man provided me with in-home computer diagnostics. I scheduled an appointment with him at my home to fix my computer's sleep mode issue. Dan explained that he would arrive within a 30-minute time window and called to keep me updated as to his time of arrival. Dan listened carefully to my problem, and we tried unsuccessfully to duplicate it. He then made a number of adjustments to my computer to improve performance and possibly work around the sleep mode issue I was experiencing. The exact issue has not been fixed, but Dan has suggested ways to work around the issue until such time as I make a choice whether or not I want to invest in two special-order parts that might be the cause of the issue. The best part of Dan's service has been his continued guidance by email after the initial appointment as we try to pinpoint exactly which failing part causes my computer's sleep mode issue. | |||

| Dan replaced the power supply on a Dell 400SC computer tower used for prescription processing. Dan was called early on a frantic Monday morning and was requested to fix the one and only computer used for prescription processing at the pharmacy. He was very accomodating and committed to heading out to take a look at it. Dan arrived in a timely manner. He was completely professional and gracious. He had the power supply on the computer replaced within 20 minutes! We would highly, highly, highly recommend his services and will not hesitate to call him again should we have any computer issues whatsoever! | We wanted help to fix our wireless router so that multiple people could securely log on to it. We'd been having problems getting a second computer up and running without a hard connection to the router. OUTSTANDING service! Dan was slightly late arriving, but called to tell us he was a few minutes behind. Very respectful. He arrived, introduced himself, and was very personable and pleasant. Immediately likeable. He worked on the network, told us exactly what he was doing every step along the way, and got it done well within the allotted time, so he offered to use the rest of the pre-paid time cleaning up a windows PC to be more efficient and speedy. His demeanor is calm, inquisitive, slightly geeky (ya gotta expect that, right?) and he had a warm sense of humor. Nothing phased him (computer, dog, cats, our questions), and he was very adept at working AND teaching us at the same time. A very educational experience to be sure! Altogether, it was a thoroughly amicable experience. Dan checked out a computer that had been shutting down. He talked me through his examination, and then we discussed the alternatives. I elected to move several programs and datafiles to a newer computer in my office, and Dan assisted me in accomplishing this and in downloading drivers to accommodate the programs. | Our overall experience with Dan was wonderful. We learned more from him in a few hours then I had learned from a computer repairman in six hours. We would definitely use him in the future. Both my husband had been having problems with our WiFi and computers. We called Dan and explained some of the problems. A date and time was set for the visit. | My computer became totally useless as a result of an email virus. He spent 2 hours doing stuff to my system to make it functional once again, plus he helped me understand how to access my scanner images and digital camera pics. | The experience could not have been more positive! He is very personable and professional as well as being highly knowledgeable of both software and hardware areas Computer would not boot up - all normal/alternate procedures did not work. Dan was responsive, on time, and very efficient. He troubleshot the problem and identified a failing hard drive. He changed out the hard drive (which we provided) and then was able to access and cross load all the data (over 35G) from the failing drive to the new drive - using some of his specialty equipment to accomplish the task. Also, he resolved a number of software and OS problems by reloading system software and correcting various problems. Dan is professional, effecient, and highly knowledgeable. | I was not getting wireless internet access with my home computers. Despite tech assistance from Time Warner, I still was unable to get the service. Dan was instrumental in diagnosing why I was not getting my home's wireless internet network service to work. Dan suceeded in getting my wireless network up and running smoothly plus he also set up several wireless printers to. Having once used Dan the Computer Man's service before, he was my immediate choice again when I needed computer/network help. When I called him, he told me to try something else first before he would come over and then charge me for his service. His suggestion would not fix my problem and he came over on the appointment day and time as he originally agreed to. With his knowledge and expertise, he got to the heart of the matter which was a matter for Time Warner to fix. | It was a fantastic experience!! It was an educational experience from beginning to end. No question or comment I made was looked down upon. I told Dan that my husband only cared if he could access his sports packages but I did everything else. When my husband checked in to see the progress, he was also totally impressed with Dan. He is very knowledgable and willing shares it. I plan to send emails to two large groups I belong to and give everyone his name. We'll definitely call Dan again. I called Dan after I had put a new battery in our desktop computer and received a message asking for a password. I put in my Windows password and it locked me out. Our computer is a 6 1/2 year old Micron(MPC). It was built to my specs and I know couldn't replace what I have. I called Dan and he told me I could probably move a connection on the motherboard but I told him my eyes are too old! Dan had appointments for the morning but could set us up for Monday because of the coming weather on Friday. I told him I was desperate because we had other plans and I needed it done ASAP. Dan said he'd call after finishing his morning appointments. He called around 12:30 and said he'd come right over. Dan worked around the error message, showed me what he had said I might do when he spoke to me, and discussed how my two hard drives worked. I have two CD drives, a Zip and a diskette slot. Dan explained alternate and more lasting ways to save my files. We discussed the Norton 360 program and how much it takes to run it. Dan showed me how to look at removing files that were hidden and no longer used. He basically cleaned up the whole system, always explaining what he was doing. He deleted programs I hadn't used in years but didn't know I could delete them without ruining something. | |||

| My computer had been locked down/up with the infamous Blue Screen for several days...a week or more. This is the second time I have called and asked for Dan's help. This experience was much more involved with an ebb and flow as to whether I would need a new computer. He would think he had solved the problem then up popped the Blue Screen(with a new number) again. In the end there were two problems, one being a Memory Board and the other a Bad CD Rom. The visit went very well I thought. He was able to actually fix it and so far, so good! In fact he called Dec.7th I believe it was to see if I was still up and running. He lets you know what he is doing as he goes through many operations trying to find and remedy the problem/s. He also has web site with helpful tips and suggestions that he added to my icons. I feel like I got to know him a little better this time and will not hesitate to call on him again with any computer problems or questions that might come up. | I called Dan, made an appointment for him to come to house, he arrived on time, took care of both desktop and laptop. He explained what he was doing and why. I would recommend hm anytime to anyone. We found Dan the Computer Man, called him up and he came by that day. Within an hour and a half, he had removed the virus on the computer. He reinstalled Defender Pro, which he commented was using a lot of memory and was slowing the computer. He recommended Norton Antivirus. He was right about the use of memory. We have since replaced it with another antivirus software. | For some reason, unknown, parental controls were activated on my computer and I couldn't access the internet at all. I have only 4-legged children who have no paw dexterity. I called Dan and he made recommendations over the telephone. I told him that I would try his suggestions and said that I would call him back if I needed further assistance. I told him how old my computer is (ancient by today's standards - Windows 2000). He found many programs that were initiated automatically; when I couldn't identify them or tell him when I last used them, he switched them to on demand as opposed to starting automatically. | Dan ran several virus removing programs to get rid of the virus on my laptop. He also removed extra programs that were causing it to slow down. He suggested backing up my system and reloading Windows if hardware interrupts continue to eat up my CPU time. He was able to get rid of several programs that I couldn't un-install. While he was here he also looked at my PC (approximately 8 or 9 years old) to see if he could get it running any faster. He cleaned it up a little - added some extra memory which he had in his car - had me test it out. I didn't notice a difference with the speed so we decided to get rid of the extra memory. He did say that unless we were specifically bothered by the speed on the PC, that it was not necessary to invest in a new one. I called on Tuesday and left a message for Dan. He returned the call in about an hour. I explained the issue I was having with the laptop (virus or spyware) and asked a few questions about the PC. He set up an appointment for the following day. He arrived promptly. He was very professional. He dove right in and started scanning for the virus/spyware on the laptop. After removing the virus/spyware from the laptop he asked to look at the PC. He looked at the PC, said he had some memory in his car that might work, got the memory and installed it. I tested out the PC, but didn't notice a difference in the speed. He removed the extra memory. We discussed the PC and determined that at this time there was not anything that could be done - however, we may want to invest in a new PC if the speed starts to really bother us. He then finished running a clean-up program on the laptop - showed me a mysterious consumer of CPU time and told me to watch it - that the only way to solve this would be to back-up my system and re-load Windows. | We had two very slow computers. He completely checked each one, adjusted them so they worked normally again. He then installed a new bluetooth keyboard and mouse on one of the computers. I emailed him. He called me next day, and came the following day right on time. He worked for over two hours, fixed two computers in our home, and he explains to you every step he is doing. | Dan came to check my computer that had stop running. He opened the computer and showed me some capacitors in the mother board that were leaking. My motherboard was caput. He then connected an older computer that I had in the garage so we would still have internet access. He also removed the hard drive from my non working computer and connected (internally) to the computer from the garage. Dan arrived about thirty minutes late but he called and little me know his current call was taking longer than expected. When he arrived to told him the problem. I was getting nothing from the computer. The indicator and hard drive light were on but nothing on the screen. He did some diagnostics when he got there to included trying a different monitor. Nothing was working so he took the computer apart. He showed me a couple of leaking and swollen capacitors on the motherboard. He stated that the motherboard was no longer working. He explained everything and answered all my questions. He also connected a computer that I had in the garage before he left. He removed the hard drive from the non working computer and added it the the working computer so we would have access to our current files. I would definitely use him again. I just got a new computer and will need his help to transfer files. | |||

| Dan ran some tests on my computer and checked out the internal components. I immediately felt very comfortable with Dan as he began to check my computer which was extremely important to me. After running some tests, he determined that I needed a new hard drive, but we also discussed the possibility of a new computer. | Everything was well done and in a professional manner. Dan let me know by phone that he was running late but arrived at this estimated time (only about 1/2 hour after original time). The work included transferring all data from my old computer to my new computer. He explained clearly answers to all of my questions about the newest software on my computer, assisted me with setting up new virus software and moving equipment around to facilitate easier usage. He made sure that my new wireless mouse and keyboard also worked correctly and that all my email accounts were setup to work correctly. | Performed a general cleanup of the computer: removed a security program in order to enhance the performance of the computer; removed some temporary files; resolved an Email issue; checked out a problem with the printer and discovered it was not the printer but the manner in which a document is sent which results in blank pages being run through the printer. Our computer had been running quite slow. After contacting our internet provider, it was determined that the problem was most likely with our computer and not the internet service. I called Dan to set an appointment to come and checkout our computer. We set an appointment and then he called back later that day to say he had a cancellation and could come sooner if that would work with me, which it did. He arrived at the appointed time and immediately went to work. All the time he worked with my computer, we conversed about issues and he explained, as best he could to a computer novice, what he was doing or trying to do to resolve the issues at hand. In short, he spent over 2 hours working with my computer in a most professional and congenial manner. When he finished, I had as much speed on my computer as it would handle (my computer is 4 years old with limited memory). I found Dan to be most patient and experienced and thorough. I could not be more pleased with my experience with Dan. I see why his rating is excellent! | |||

| Our wireless internet set up in our house was very unreliable and Dan came and added a new modem/router combination that my husband had ordered through Amazon, but that had arrived without any instructions. He also worked on my laptop to get it running faster. When I called Dan, he was very polite and able to come the next day. Dan was very knowledgeable in retrieving our information from the old modem to set up the new one. We had several computers of varying ages that he worked diligently on to get on the wireless system. When he left, we immediately had problems with the system and I called him on his cell. He turned around and came right back and figured out the problem was my husband's Vista system kicking off our other XP systems. I was very impressed with his determination to get everything working properly. My laptop is running much better. | Dan did a thorough check of my programs and determined which ones were slowing my pc---we reviewed these to determine which ones needed to be removed, and he completed removal. He loaded a new anti virus program on to my computer that will replace the one I had that was causing problems. He showed me how to burn a dvd and gave an excellent explanation of maintenance measures to take as well as how to back up hard drive. I called for help in determining why my computer was running so slowly and to find ways to get it to speed up. I phoned Dan on a Monday, and he scheduled me for the next afternoon. He arrived about 30 min early and promptly started work on my computer. I found Dan to be exceptionally clear in his explanations and appreciated how he explained what he was doing every step of the way. The clean up he performed has not only helped my pc to run faster and smoother, but also has cleared up some very awkward internet connection problems I was experiencing. He was here for a full hour and a half and charged $60 (included an Angie's List discount). I will definitely phone him again when problems arise and will recommend him to others. | |||

| Within a few days of each other, my new laptop failed to boot up and my older desktop failed to show any image on the monitor screen. I initially called Dan and discussed the problem with him. He suggested over the phone several corrective actions that I might take to correct the new laptop malfunction; he also had some suggestions about the much older desktop. I was able to resolve the laptop issues on my own. However, since I was concerned about a hard drive failure in the older computer, I had him come out to look at both systems. Dan arrived a few minutes late, but I live in an area that is difficult to navigate so that is understandable. First, he worked on the older desktop and identified that the hard drive was OK, but that my monitor had failed. He allowed me to borrow an old monitor that he had in his garage until I purchased a new one. In addition, he deleted a number of the programs that had been accumulated over the years and improved the running efficiency and freed up some RAM space to allow the computer to operate more quickly than I can recall. He also spent a number of minutes on my newer laptop, adding some necessary screen icons and suggesting antivirus software that is available on line free of charge. | Dan set up our new computer system which included a new desktop, laptop, and wireless printer. He transferred all of the data from our old computer to our new Gateway system. He also loaded some new programs/applications and taught us how to use them. We used Dan prior to our joining Angie's List. We were pleased to see that he was on the list and had excellent reviews. | Everything went fine. Dan has worked on my computer before and I trust him very much. He fixes things that needs fixed and checks my computer over before he feels that everything is right. I can now backup and that is one of the main problems that I was worried about. Dan worked on router that was not working properly. He did some work on getting my computer to work faster but feels that he needs to look in CPU as he thinks the problem might be the motherboard. My external backup is not backing up and it has a pass work that another repairman put on and until I can get that pass work he created a batch file to back up. He is coming back to do more work when I get a new computer desk as I do not want anything worked on until after I have unplugged CPU and desk is put up and I have plugged the CPU back in.
